Dr. Baxley has authored, managed, lectured, defended and promoted
numerous concepts and programs addressing the potential issues faced by both large and small employers, the workplace environment
and the health of the workplace, our military forces, and the general population. Yet he is now by choice and avocation
a writer and a self-designated intermediary and interpreter between the science and rigors of a discipline or process, as
well as its dissemination and effect on those in its audience. This is accomplished through continous analysis
and various media options - the written word, presentations and training programs including coaching. So whether one is addressing the psychological and emotionally complex domains of life,
the interaction of health care with the patient, or the effects of workplace, the environment or man-made threats on the worker
and non-worker health, its all in how you serve up the message, and how its constituents can navigate the requirements for
effecting optimal outcomes.

The Story of Auk Dok The name AUK DOK celebrates his
original approach to the practice of his medical specialty with a twist (sic Occ Doc). Summarized, it is an ability
to look and interact with the world, its people, their language, beleif systems, and their lives and livelihood - all done
through a different view point, without losing the power and purpose of its intent nor compromising the needs and outcomes.
Hence, the different approach can be used to influence others in the delivery of learned expertise, programs, and strategies
in the realm of life, health, business and the workplace. Conversely there are different ways of interacting with and
within these operational theaters, some more successful than others, but not always scripted, nor rigid, but validated through
science and outcomes monitoring. AUK DOK, Inc. was originally established to provide consultative solutions
for maintaining the health, productivity, and wellness for the individual, their life, the environment and even business management
in the workplace. Due to the unique broad areas of our work lives and interaction with the environment the occupational
and environmental discipline requires, it allows both individual and population-based approaches to both care and prevention.
In fact, this field of medicine was the original population health and pervasive approach to medical management now gaining
favor and traction in managed care of the non-occupational Medicare, Medicaid and commercial medical lives. By nature,
every intervention in this approach can be unique and tailored to individual or corporate needs, yet always promotes the health,
well-being, safety and productivity of the population, the workplaces and its leaders and its people. Ergo, Dr. Baxley
a “doc”, who became “Auk Dok,” was also a Diving and Submarine Medical Officer because the “needs
of the Navy” had an occupational medical officer gap in the clinic on his arrival to the submarine command. He does
not treat the Auk bird - although he espouses admiration for its strong natural evolutionary selection for swimming as well
as flying and to its unique existence in nature as life-long devotion to partner and nest (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auk) - hence a social statement itself within the animal world. And not surprisingly, this moniker in his first civilian
physician role inspired his administrative assistant, herself an artist, to hand carve a wooden homage to both the bird and
“Auk Dok’s” inaugural civilian practice. And so, establishing the meme - Auk Dok.
